Fernando Fernandes Advogados bears witness to the experience and background of the founder, Fernando Tristão Fernandes, who graduated in law in 1959. The first head offices of the law practice in Rio de Janeiro were established in 1979, immediately following the political amnesty that brought Tristão out from confinement in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul.

Now with branch offices in Sao Paulo as well, Fernando Fernandes Advogados is working towards offering nationwide coverage, complementing its infrastructure by establishing partnerships with respected offices in the more distant regions.

The spirit of independence and pioneering drive with which Fernando Fernandes Advogados built his office team has been infused in the new generation of lawyers groomed by him, especially his son – the criminal lawyer Fernando Augusto Fernandes – who specialized in both Economic and Corporate Law and Criminal Law, before being awarded a Master´s Degree in Criminal Law.

Fernando Fernandes Advogados has broken new ground by establishing jurisprudence with court decisions in various leading cases brought before the higher and supreme courts. These include a ban on environmental media recordings as being in violation of constitutional rights and a ban on court-authorized telephone recordings that breach various legal principles. The firm also championed the refutation of criminal lawsuits due to oppressive administration by financial institutions. These are but a few examples among the countless victories in complex cases involving the annulment of illegal arrests and the repeal of sentences.
